Grilled Honey Mustard Chicken and Broccoli.
This honey mustard grilled chicken and broccoli is a delicious weeknight meal. The perfect honey dijon marinade plus charred, smoky broccoli makes this super delicious and simple.
Grilled honey mustard chicken is sure to become a staple at your house.
Throw this honey mustard chicken on the menu this week because it’s incredibly flavorful, filled with charred, smoky flavor from the grill. The broccoli is just as good and together, you can have dinner done in a few minutes.
Sounds good to me!
Plus, I love a meal that can be made entirely on the grill.
Honey mustard is my love language. I mean, I’ve talked about my obsession with mustards for years but honey mustard is one of the first sauces/dressings I ever really fell in love with. I’ve adored it since I was a young kid and the feeling has never left.
I’d eat just about anything slathered in honey mustard.
P.S. if you need a fab salad, this honey mustard chopped chicken salad is pretty incredible.
To make this chicken, I marinate it in my own dijon mustard and honey combo. I also baste it with some honey mustard while on the grill, so it gets all saucy. It’s basically like BBQ sauce, but honey mustard sauce. Which I prefer, thank you very much.
It’s so freaking good!
I like to sprinkle the chicken with a handful of fresh chopped chives for some brightness and refreshing flavor. After that, I can basically slice this and eat it as it. Super juicy, tender and the perfect contrast of savory and sweet.
The broccoli is simple as can be.
Olive oil, salt, pepper, maybe some garlic powder if you love it. The best part about the broccoli is that it gets so charred and golden and delish. SO good. We love it just as much as roasted broccoli, but this also has the smoky flavor from the grill which you just can’t beat. There is no real “recipe” here for the broccoli – when it comes to vegetables on the grill, I grill them until they are dark and golden and charred. You pull it off when it’s done to your liking.
Sometimes I’ll throw extra broccoli on so we have it for the week and then I’ll use it in all the things. If you find yourself with leftovers, you can also make this grilled broccoli crunch salad! It’s delish.
Okay and if you want to add something else in to this meal, like maybe a potato or rice? Go for it.
This is the perfect recipe for crispy smashed potatoes. They can roast in the oven while you grill. If it’s too hot for that, do my grilled gorgonzola potatoes, which is another fab option because the gorgonzola and honey mustard work so well together. Then the entire meal is done on the grill, clean up is minimal and everything is DELICIOUS.
Could enjoy this every single day.
Honey Mustard Grilled Chicken
Grilled Honey Mustard Chicken and Broccoli
Ingredients
- 1 pound boneless chicken thighs
- ⅓ cup + 3 tablespoons dijon mustard
- ¼ cup + 2 tablespoons honey
- 2 to 3 tablespoon olive oil
- kosher salt and pepper
- 4 cups broccoli florets
- garlic powder
- chives, for garnish
Instructions
- Place the chicken in a bowl or resealable plastic bag. Whisk together the ⅓ cup dijon, ¼ cup honey and 1 tablespoon olive oil. Pour it over the chicken and marinate for at least 30 minutes or even overnight. Stick it in the fridge, covered, to marinate.
- When ready to grill, preheat the grill to high. Remove the chicken about 20 minutes before grilling to take the chill off. In a small bowl, I whisk together another 2 tablespoons of honey and 3 tablespoons of dijon, for basting the chicken while grilling. This is optional but very delicious!
- Place the broccoli florets in a bowl and drizzle with the remaining olive oil. Sprinkle on a big pinch of salt and pepper and a sprinkle of garlic powder. Toss well. Spread the florets on a grill pan in a (mostly) single layer. If you don’t have a grill pan, you can use aluminum foil. I do 2 or 3 layers of foil and foil up the edges to make a tray.
- Place the chicken on the grill. Grill for 5 to 6 minutes per side, or until the temperature in the thickest part of the chicken registers at 165 degrees F. The last 2 to 3 minutes, brush the chicken with the honey mustard mixture.
- While the chicken is grilling, place the broccoli on the other side, whether on the grill pan or foil. Grill these both with the lid closed. Toss the broccoli every few minutes, until it’s charred and golden enough for your liking. This usually takes around 10 minutes.
- Remove the chicken and broccoli from the grill. Let the chicken rest for 5 minutes. Serve!

Boneless or bone-in thighs? Looks delicious!
boneless!
Does the broccoli get soft cooking on the grill or does it get crunchy I have never grilled broccoli
can you use boneless chicken breasts for this recipe (healthier)? If so, should I alter anything?
OMG – this was delicious! Definitely a new family favourite!
This was so easy yet so delicious! Perfect weeknight meal!! I will be making this all summer! Thank you for another five star recipe!!
Can the chicken be cooked in an air fryer? If so, please indicate instructions.
I made this for dinner last night it was delicious! Seriously the smell coming off the grill was so mouth watering. And it was super quick & easy. I marinated the chicken before work and grilled it in the middle of the 6pm craziness, done in no time flat! Kid friendly too. My 2 year old was literally picking pieces off the cutting board, she couldn’t wait. This will be added to our dinner rotation. Thank you for another great recipe!
I don’t have a grill. How do I make this delicious-sounding meal?
You could put it in your oven/toaster oven and set temp to broil. When I do that method I usually put the chicken on an oven safe wire rack (that has been sprayed with cooking oil) on top of a sheet pan (to catch drippings) and cook it for the same amount of time.
This was great! So tender and flavorful! I made it on the George Forman grill and it worked out beautifully. Will make it again! Thanks for the great recipe, Jessica!
This was absolutely delicious!!!
I cooked it on my Blackstone griddle. So everything
Was perfect.
My only suggestion is leave this recipe alone!
Glad I looked up this website.
Made this for dinner for my family last night, and everyone adored it! It was perfection with the crispy smashed potatoes
This was so incredibly flavorful and super easy. This will definitely become a staple for me. Delicious!!
Huge hit in my house! My daughter said this is one of the best meals she’s ever eaten! Thank you!
I’ve made this twice now! The leftovers are wonderful. I added some Mike’s hot honey today!
Love this even more because it’s easy to make a small or large batch. Not sure why I’d never grilled broccoli before!!
I made this with chicken breasts and it was soo good! Also took me like 3 minutes to put together so that’s a huge win!
This chicken is phenomenal. I will be making this repeatedly!
This recipe was a real crowd pleaser. We doubled the recipe as we had added this to our cookout menu. A really nice way to turn up the heat a bit….i added 1/2 teaspoon of red pepper flakes to a “double” the recipe amounts. It was DELICIOUS! 😋
Love this meal!
